First, find out where they are
In Central Florida, where someone was arrested decides which jail they are in.
- Orlando, Universal, downtown and most of Orange County: the Orange County Jail, 3855 S John Young Pkwy. Our office is across the street.
- Kissimmee, Celebration, most of the Disney property and Osceola County: the Osceola County Jail, 402 Simpson Rd. Our Kissimmee office is 2 minutes away.
- Sanford, Lake Mary, Altamonte Springs and Seminole County: the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, 211 Eslinger Way.
If you are not sure, call us with a full name and date of birth and we will find them, along with the charges and the bond amount.
You can do all of it from another state
Nothing about this requires a plane ticket.
- We look up the case and tell you the bond amount and what the premium will be.
- The paperwork is signed online. Whoever signs can be anywhere.
- Payment is by card, Zelle or Cash App, processed through Square.
- Our agent posts the bond at the jail here, and we call you when it is done.
Collateral on out of state bonds
A bail bond is a promise that the defendant comes back to Florida for every court date. When the defendant lives in another state, we secure that promise with collateral for the full bond amount, on top of the 10% premium.
The collateral is returned when the case is over and the bond is discharged. The premium is the fee for writing the bond and is not returned. Your agent puts all of it in writing before anyone signs.
Can they fly home?
Usually yes, but the court sets the conditions, not us, and some cases carry travel restrictions. Ask your agent before you book anything, and get a copy of the release paperwork.
The court date is the part people get wrong
Going home does not end the case. The defendant is expected back in Florida for court unless a Florida criminal defense lawyer arranges something different with the judge. If a court date is missed, the bond can be forfeited and the collateral is at risk, which is the situation everyone wants to avoid.
We send text reminders and we call as the date gets close. If plans change, call us first. Almost every problem here is fixable if you call before the date rather than after.
