If there is a warrant out for you in Orange County, you do not necessarily have to be arrested on the side of the road at some point in the future. Orange County runs a process it calls an expedited booking, and it lets you handle the warrant in the public lobby of the Booking and Release Center without ever being taken into the jail population.

What it actually is
You report to the public lobby at the Booking and Release Center with the bond already arranged. You are fingerprinted and photographed there in the lobby. Once the fingerprint check clears, a court date is issued and you leave. You are not walked back into the jail, you are not put in a cell and you are not housed with anybody.
That is the whole appeal of it. The warrant is cleared, you have a court date, and you go home the same morning.
The window is narrow
Expedited bookings run 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. That is the county’s window and it is not flexible. Show up at 2:15 on a Friday and you are looking at the standard process, which means actually being booked in.
Get there early in the window rather than late. The fingerprint check has to come back before you are released, and a 1:45 arrival does not leave much room.
Budget two hours, minimum
This is the part people get wrong, usually because somebody told them it was a quick in and out.
Expedited booking still takes a minimum of two hours, and it can run longer on a busy morning. It is faster and far less unpleasant than the standard process, which Orange County says can take up to 12 hours, but it is not a fifteen minute errand. Do not schedule it on your lunch break. Arrange the day off, arrange a ride, and bring something to do.
The $20 is the county’s, not ours
Orange County charges a $20 fee for an expedited booking, by money order only. That is separate from the bond premium and it does not come to us. Sort the money order out before you go, because they will not take cash or a card for it at the counter.
Who cannot use it
Two limits, and both are firm.
- Orange County warrants only. If the warrant is out of another county, this is not the route. There is a separate process for that, and it is covered on out of county warrants.
- Not if the charge requires first appearance. Any charge that by statute requires you to attend first appearance is excluded, which means you will be held for a judge rather than released on a schedule. If you are not sure which bucket you are in, call us and we will look the warrant up before you drive anywhere. That is a great deal better than finding out in the lobby.
What to bring
- A government issued photo ID.
- The $20 money order.
- A ride, or a plan for one. You will be there a while and your own car may not be where you want it.
- Nothing else. Leave anything you would not want to hand over at the counter in the car.
What we do before you go
We look the warrant up and confirm it is an Orange County warrant and that the charge is eligible. We confirm the bond amount, tell you the premium before you pay anything, and write the bond in advance so it is waiting when you arrive. Our Orlando office is at 3800 S John Young Pkwy, across the street from the jail, so this is usually a short walk rather than a second trip.
If you miss the window
Nothing is lost. The warrant does not get worse because you waited until Monday, and going in on a Tuesday morning is a great deal better than being picked up on a traffic stop on Saturday night. Call us, we will get the bond arranged, and you go in when the window is open.
