What it costs

How a bail bond works in Sanford

When a judge or the bond schedule sets bail, you can pay the full amount to the jail, or pay a licensed agent a premium and the agent posts a bond for the full amount. In Florida the premium is 10% of the bond, with a $100 minimum per charge. The premium is the fee for the bond and is not refunded. Collateral, if we ask for any, comes back when the case ends.

Good to know

  • The price is the same everywhere. The 10% rate is set by Florida law, so no licensed agent can legally undercut it. Pick the agent who answers fast and explains things clearly.
  • Collateral is not always needed. Plenty of our bonds are written without it. How collateral works →
  • Short on the premium tonight? Ask about a payment plan, set case by case and agreed in writing. Payment plans →
Quick math
You pay$1,00010% premium, set by Florida law, with a $100 minimum per charge.

Paying the court directly would tie up $10,000 until the case ends.

Several charges? Each charge has its own bond and its own $100 minimum. Estimate only; we confirm the exact premium before you sign.

On a $25,000 bond, and we write bonds up to $2,000,000. You can pay the court in cash, borrow the cash, or pay us the premium. Here is what each one really costs.

If there is an immigration hold

We still write the bond. Because a hold makes a case unpredictable, we secure these with collateral for the full bond amount, returned when the case is over and the bond is discharged.

We will also tell you straight: posting the county bond does not cancel an immigration hold, and the jail can hold someone up to 48 hours for immigration to pick them up.

Pickup, court dates and cosigning

Picking someone up

They walk out of intake at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, 211 Eslinger Way, and there is a main lobby where family can wait. A surety bond, which is what we post, goes through the same window. Card payments made directly to the jail are capped at $2,500 per charge, which is one reason most families use an agent. How long release takes depends on how busy intake is, so plan for a wait rather than a moment.

We will call you when the bond is posted so you are not waiting in the lot for hours.

After release

Court dates. Every one has to be attended. We send reminders by text message, and we call you as the date gets close.
Check ins. These depend on the bond and what the court ordered, and your agent explains yours when you sign.
Missed a date? Call us right away. Acting fast is usually the difference between a quick fix and a warrant.
Case over. The bond is discharged and any collateral is returned.

Before you sign

Signing as the cosigner

Read this before you sign for anyone. These four points are what you are agreeing to.

Ask an agent first: (407) 779-4444

We will walk you through the paperwork before you sign.

Your promise

You promise the defendant will attend every court date.

The risk

If they skip court and are not returned, you are responsible for the full bond amount.

Your collateral

Any collateral you pledge secures that promise and comes back when the case ends.

Your way out

You can ask us to surrender the bond if you no longer trust the defendant to show up.
